No dodgy contracts
One of the most common issues in the photocopier industry is just how many contracts are designed to trap unsuspecting customers. We’ve seen first-hand the consequences of such contracts, where customers are left powerless.
For example, we recently worked with a customer who had entered a contract with another company. The Terms and Conditions of their contract with the other company said if the machine becomes economically unrepairable, they would have to upgrade this machine. In the same small print, it stated that if they gave notice to terminate the agreement, they would be responsible for all of the payments for the remainder of the term. This is known as a “loss of earnings” clause. In theory, the customer would be paying 100% of the agreement for the remaining 4 years, plus average monthly copies for machines they are not able to use! Unfortunately, the machine they had was cheaply refurbished, so it wasn’t fit for long-term use and when it inevitably broke, they had to buy a new machine.
